Building Bridges

Asalamu aliakum wa rahmat Allah wa baratkoo!

Today’s post is very short (I can hear your “yaaaaaaaaays” from here, hehe) :P
All I want to say is that as a twin, I know how it is to have people sit down and nitpick every difference my twin and I have. They’ll tell me “Your eye brows have more of a circular shape”, “your face is a bit more oval shaped”, “your voice is more nasal”, “your glasses”…

Sometimes, it seems like they’re missing the big picture.

The big picture is- like it or not (and I do)- we look alike, and share many many similarities. We are our own individuals but we are very similar.

This is the point that came to me when I checked out this presentation I received in my email, called Building Bridges.

Take a look at it.  That’s today’s (Sunday’s) dare.

Photobucket

P.S. Nobody told me that last week, when I thought it was Sunday, it was MONDAY! LOL! I was so embarrassed the next day when I realized.
P.S.S. Just for fun, take the happy smiley test. All you do is click on the happy smile you like best and it analyzes your personality. I’ll tell you guys what I got, if you tell me what you got? Deal?   HapPppy Smiley Test
P + 3's. I got the bridge picture from photobucket where I tend to get most of my pictures.

  1. I must admit I have sat and looked for any differences in twins previously, I guess it's just a thing that people do without realising...Don't worry I promise I won't do it if I ever see you and your twin ! :P

  2. i guess being a twin is a great blessing, but also sometimes annoying, am i right? lol i'm sure i'd start to look for differences if i met you guys in person :)) i might be clever enough to keep quiet about it though, or i might not :D hahahaha..

the presentation was great mashaAllah! lol it's funny when you said that todays post was short.. hehe.. but if you include the text in the presentation.. ;) :P lol..

nooo, kidding, it was great mashaAllah.

btw, there was a hadith that i heard once before about planting a seed, a bird eating it, and charity.. does it mean that when i planted grass seeds last year and the birds ate half of it it was counted like i gave to charity? i'm really having a bad english day subhanaAllah.. this is the third time i say it today! the hot weather maybe melted my brain lol :P not a big loss though haha :P

  3. asalamu aliakum!

forever learning!! u're supposed to be studying for ur exams, aren't you!!hehe! nah, don't worry about 'finding the differences between twins'. i know most people take it as a challenge, ;)

oldie goldie, i cracked up! yes, u're right. with the presentation, it's the longest longest post!

Yesssssss! It doescount sa charity, inshAAllah inshaAllah! <3 Amazing, huh! :D

Yallah, come visit me and you can take a look at the differences. I won't mind ;)

I just want to clarify that I did not MEAN it's a problem to find differences- especially those who respect the differences. It's just that the media often only focuses on the differences- I rarely see it highlight similarities! That's irritating.

  4. Excuse the typos. It's 3:41 in the morning. I came back because I had a nightmare that some people might misunderstand the post ;)

  5. Love the bridge picture! Sorry people scrutinize you and your twin in order to find differences. :D

Here is my result on the smile thing.

    You Are Energetic
You may seem scattered to those around you, but there is a method to your madness.
You are good at juggling many balls in the air. You definitely know how to multitask.

You are driven and motivated. You crave success, and you always follow your dreams.
You make responsible decisions, and you can be counted on in a crisis. You have your head screwed on straight.

  6. ...I'm having a blonde day today. It took me a while to realise what the bridge meant. LOL

    Here's what I got:

    You Are Kind
You have a broad perspective on life. You are very understanding and forgiving.
You prefer a quiet, peaceful existence. You don't like noise in your head - or in the world around you.

For you, there's no such thing as too much calm. Having time to think is a gift that you treasure.

...it's sooo true!!!I love my quiet time. :)

  7. LOL heart and soul! It was a bit unclear, actually :D Basically, the bridge refers to the bridge between Islam and the West. What I meant with my post is that like the way people focus on the differences between my twin and I, the media capitalizes on the differences between Islam and the West. It's a shame, though because there are major similarities that would help bring us together. That's what the whole presentation is about ;)

    Anyways, ma'shaAllah on being kind!!

Susanne, I'll know who to count on in case I ever get in an emergency ;) OH and keep following your dreams :D

This is what I got *but I'm not that kind*!

    You Are Compassionate
You are humble, thoughtful, and the kindest person around. You keep your life in perspective.
You just try to do a little good in this world. You believe in doing your best every day.

You may not make waves or cause a scene, but you are definitely making a difference in other people's lives.
You've got an amazing thing going, one day at a time. Don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise.

  8. A lot of people think twins should look exactly like, act alike, etc. They forget it's 2 different people. They make look alike, but it's the personalities that make them different.

People always said my sister and I could pass as twins when we were little, lol.
